Tools needed:

    1. 2 10mm wrench(sockets or box end will work in any combo)

    1. 1 12 mm socket + wrench (for the base plate removal)

    1. 1 short extension (makes it a bit easier)

    1. 1 phillips head screwdriver (to remove console.)

    1. 1 Large flathead screwdriver (to pry clips off)

Step one: Remove shift knob. Twist left to unscrew. If using the stock knob, its necessary to pull down on the boot where it connects to the knob to disconnect it. You may need to use the Flathead screwdriver to pop free the knob from the boot.

Step two: Remove console. Using Phillips head screwdriver, remove 4 screws from each side of the front console. Then, remove 2 additional screws above the radio. Carefully remove the console by pulling up on the rear part and maneuvering around the e brake.

Step three: Use Flathead screwdriver to pry off retaining clips on the shift cables. The retaining clips are located under the radio area, just slightly hidden. Additional pictures of them are located in the album linked above.

Step four: Remove 10mm nut holding shifter to shift cable. Pull bolt out and retain both nut and bolt for reinstall on new shifter.

Step five: Use 12mm socket and wrench to remove 4 bolts holding down shifter plate. Use of an extension and swivel makes it much easier and go quicker. Retain all parts for reinstall later.Shifter should be free now. Remove carefully and take to work bench or comfortable space.

Step six: Using 2 10mm wrenches (any type) remove long bolt and nut from underside of shifter. This holds the shifter to the plate. Once removed, the shifter should come out easily.

Step seven: With stock shifter out, note orientation of nuts and bolt heads on stock shifter. Remove them and disassemble bearing assembly from stock shifter. Place entire assembly in new JTC customs Shifter. Add some fresh lubricant (moly lube). The bearing assembly should fit much 'looser’ in the JTC customs shifter. Reassemble and bolt up assembly with nuts and bolts oriented the same as they were on the stock shifter. The looseness will disappear once tightened.

Step eight: Heat up plastic square on stock shifter (Do not exceed 250 degree F). Carefully remove. *Square can and will break if not careful* Lube spherical part of JTC customs shifter and carefully push square on. Reheating square is a good measure for safety.

Step nine: replace and reassemble everything in opposite way of removal. Clips can be tapped back in with screwdriver or hammer easily. Keep console off until shifter has been tested and settings adjusted.

Using the JTC Customs Short shifter:

The shifter has 3 holes on the connector. Select the length you desire to start off with and reassemble shift cable onto shifter with the stock nut and bolt.

Lengths:
Top setting -shortest shift length -Race
Middle setting – middle setting length -DD
Bottom setting -closest to stock length of shift -Stock
